Paint.NET Tutorial - Overlay Effect

You are probably aware of the program "Paint.NET" if you are not do a google search for "Paint.NET download" and you will be able to download it. If you've used it before you probably know it supports layers. And in this tutorial I am going to show you a cool trick you can do with layers. :)
1) Copy your picture from the Internet and paste it into paint.NET. Then go to Image > Crop to Selection. I resized my image (on the left) by dragging in the corners before I cropped.
2) Now you must duplicate the layer. You can do this by Ctrl+Shift+D.
3) On your newly created layer, go to Effects > Distort > Pixilate and make your cell size 10.
4) Now press f4 on your keyboard and set the blending mode to overlay. Ta da! Now you're done! If you save it as anything besides a .PDN it will merge by itself.
