3D Text

1) Create a new document. I am using the 'Web' preset, with a trasparent background.
2) Select the 'Horizontal Type Tool'. Choose your settings. I am using 'Showcard Gothic', '120 pt', with a color of  '#3300cc'.
3) Go to Image - Transform - Perspective. Drag the bottom-center point to the right, like shown below.
4) Select the text layer. Now, select the 'Move Tool' (V).
a. Press 'Ctrl + J' on your keyboard to duplicate the layer.
b. Press the 'up' arrow key on your keyboard to move the layer up by 1 pixel.
5) Keep repeating part 'a' and 'b' of step #4, until the text is as tall as you want.
6) On your topmost layer, click once on the 'eye icon' which is the 'layer visibility'.
Below, I have outlined the 'eye icon' in blue. As you can see, there is no 'eye icon' on the top layer, when shows that it is not visible.
7) Select any one of the visible layers and go to Layer - Merge Visible.
8) Make sure the visible (bottom) layer is selected.
Go to Layer - New Fill Layer - Gradient. Check 'Group with Previous Layer'.
Choose a gradient. I choose a light blue/white one with the settings below.
9) Remember how we made the top layer 'invisible' in step #6?
Click on where the 'eye icon' should be in the top layer to make it visible again.
10) Right click on the top layer that we just made visible and from the options select 'Simplify'.
11) Go to Edit - Stroke (Outline) Selection. I am using the settings below.
Now, you can either stop right here, and enjoy your 3D text, or you can continue this tutorial for an even cooler effect.
12) Once again, go to Layer - Merge Visible.
13) Now go to Layer - Duplicate Layer.
14) In your effects palette, click on the 'Layer Styles' icon. Then from the drop down menu choose 'Wow Chrome'. Select the one outlined in black, 'Wow-Chrome Reflecting.
15) In your layers palette, set the blend mode of the duplicated layer to 'Color'.
16) Go to Layer - New Fill Layer - Solid Color and check 'Group with Previous Layer'.
Choose any color you want, I am using '#0020c0'.
Set the blend mode of this color fill layer to 'Color' too.
We are done! Experiment with different layer styles, fill layers, etc.
